The Beginning of Hewitson, Capturing the Essence of South Australian Terroir
Established in 1998, Hewitson Winery is located in the heart of the Barossa Valley, one of Australia's oldest wine regions. The winery crafts its wines by harvesting carefully selected grapes from South Australia's representative regions—where about 150 wineries are densely gathered—including the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, McLaren Vale, and Adelaide Hills. Respecting the unique terroir characteristics of each region while maintaining the brand's own sophisticated style, Hewitson introduces high-quality wines with balanced structure and deep flavors to the world.

A Winemaking Philosophy Where Old World Delicacy and New World Boldness Coexist
Founder and winemaker Dean Hewitson majored in winemaking at Roseworthy Agricultural College in Australia and gained practical experience at major Old World wineries in Bordeaux and Burgundy, France. Later, he completed his master's degree at UC Davis in the United States, mastering cutting-edge techniques from New World regions like Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley to perfect his own original style. This journey is fully reflected in Hewitson's wines, leaving a deep impression on consumers worldwide with a taste that harmoniously blends traditional delicacy and modern boldness.

The Historical Significance of Old Vines and Sustainable Future Value
Hewitson's flagship masterpiece, 'Old Garden,' is crafted from the world's oldest Mourvedre vines planted in 1853, receiving high praise from critic James Suckling as a "phenomenal wine." Embracing various generations of vines from 170-year-old ancient trees to young ones, the winery adheres to a winemaking style that minimizes artificial intervention under the principle that "great wine is completed when following the flow of nature." Furthermore, by recently adopting solar power generation and water recycling systems, Hewitson takes the lead in building a sustainable winemaking environment that seeks coexistence with nature, fulfilling the brand's social responsibility.
